About Us

17 Chestnut Street is a small B&B located in the heart of the historic Shipyard area of Marblehead. The location is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, galleries, the Catholic Church and Seaside Park. The harbor may be seen by walking to the top of Chestnut Street. Devereux Beach and the famous Marblehead Neck are within walking distance, if you are spry.

Sisters Suzanne and Linda Thomas have lived in this house more than 20 years. The original house was built circa 1855. An addition was completed in 1995. The home is smoke-free.

Presently, 17 Chestnut Street is a "Weekend Only" B&B. Suzanne and Linda have regular employment outside the home. 17 Chestnut Street receives guests Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Accommodations

17 Chestnut Street is a small, but gracious weekend B&B. We offer two, second-floor rooms: The Thomas Room offers twin beds. The Powers Room offers a double bed (and fireplace). Each room has a TV and A/C. Due to a shared bath, our rates are very reasonable. Each room is $90 per night.

17 Chestnut Street has one first floor room.  The Gordon Room has a queen bed. This suite offers TV, A/C and a private bath.  The room is $140 per night.

Begin each morning with a continental breakfast. Homemade bread, fresh fruit, steaming pots of coffee and tea will be served in the dining room. Cool mornings will find the fireplace crackling. The first floor's formal living room will be available for you. It is a perfect place for reading or for pleasant conversation. There is a half-bath on the first floor, also for guest use.

The brick driveway offers tandem parking.

Come to 17 Chestnut Street for a clean, friendly, and happy stay. Please consider 17 Chestnut Street as your "home away from home!"

Cash or checks are honored. Credit cards are not accepted.

Due to a high demand, you are urged to secure rooms a number of weeks in advance of arrival.  We often require a two-night minimum.

Although we are basically a "weekend-only" Bed and Breakfast, we are open some complete weeks throughout the year.

Since we have our own small and loving dogs, we ask that you keep your pets with friends.

Please honor our "smoke-free" environment.

Mannered children are welcome, provided the same family secures both rooms.

Note: Room charges and minimum-stay requirements are subject to change, so please check with us for the most updated information.
